Jumanji Film Screening at Juliet Berto

On Friday, March 20th,  pupils, parents and staff (as well as some members of the public!) joined at Cinéma Juliet Berto to enjoy a screening of Jumanji (1995). The screening was part of the cinema’s Project Populaire! which connects Grenoble’s outer city residents with cinema through cultural events like this screening. The theme of this year’s project was “Madness” and the students in the International Section at Collège Lucie Aubrac offered suggestions of films within this theme that we could show. From the films suggested, the children took a vote and ultimately Jumanji was selected. An excellent choice, the crazy antics of the story’s board game come-to-life had the crowd laughing until the end! Students were busy before the film began selling popcorn, sweets and drinks, so we were well fuelled for the madness which ensued. All the proceeds from the ticket sales and refreshments will go directly towards the school’s trip to London next year, and it was great to see such a generous turnout (134 tickets sold!) in support of the project. Before the film began we heard a few words from the SI’s coordinator Jill Bila and English teacher Jimmy Dorelon, head of the parent’s association, and a speech prepared by our 5ème students Shana and Coline. It was a brilliant evening of coming together in support of the students and staff in the International Section, and in encouraging their English language learning journey.
